A video library of memories will be assembled in Polotsk district for the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory
It began in February and will last until April. Employees of club institutions (currently, eight military monuments in the territory of Polotsk district are assigned to them) and participants of creative groups are improving the sites of military burials and preparing video clips about the memorials. They meet with Great Patriotic War veterans living in rural settlements, provide them with household assistance, record their memories, and at the final stage, they will prepare special information dossiers summarizing the collected materials. As a result, a unified archive will be created – a priceless video library of memory that can be used during patriotic events.
Lyudmila Pashkevich, a librarian from the village of Zaozerye, has already created a video film about her grandfather, a participant of the Great Patriotic War, in which the veteran's great-grandson shares his interpretation of historical events.
— Our goal is to convey living testimonies about the war, to pass on the baton of memory to the next generation. Colleagues from urban cultural institutions have already supported the campaign. We hope that other concerned citizens will also join it, — noted Natalia Dyomina, director of the Polotsk RCC.
