A virtual gallery of veterans' portraits was created in Novopolotsk

A virtual gallery of portraits of veterans and participants of the Great Patriotic War has been created in Novopolotsk, said Vladimir Belyayev, director of the Museum of History and Culture of Novopolotsk.

The project, implemented by the museum and the newspaper "Novopolotsk Today", is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory and is located on the website of the printed publication. Currently, the virtual gallery of memory features about three dozen portraits of Novopolotsk residents - war participants, as well as stories about how they fought and survived during the resistance against the Nazi invaders. Biographical materials are taken from the book "The Memory of War Knocks on Our Hearts," prepared by museum staff.

"The gallery of memory has just begun to be formed and will continue to develop, being replenished with new stories based on materials collected by the museum. Anyone can participate in this work. The museum or the newspaper editorial office will gladly accept photos of veterans from family archives, images of their documents, or items that preserve the history of the war," noted Vladimir Belyayev. In the future, the possibility of opening access for users to independently upload data is being considered.

In addition, the gallery includes images of monuments, burials, and memorial complexes of the Vitebsk region with their creation prehistory.
