Vitebsk residents will direct funds earned at the subbotnik to the technical equipment of medical institutions

April 16, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. About 500,000 residents of the Vitebsk region are taking part in the republican subbotnik, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets told reporters today. The governor, along with representatives of republican and regional media, participated in the landscaping of the future zoo near the new residential microdistrict, BELTA correspondent reports. Residents of the region are engaged in landscaping and cleaning up territories, and are working at their workplaces. It is expected to earn about Br2 billion from the subbotnik. Half of the amount will be directed to the health improvement of children living or studying in the territories affected by the Chernobyl disaster, as well as to the construction of the Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War. At the expense of the subbotnik funds, medical equipment will be purchased in the Vitebsk region, and the repair of healthcare facilities, including the children's regional clinical hospital, will continue. "When we are together, any task is within our reach," emphasized Alexander Kosinets. For example, the construction of the zoo will be carried out both at the expense of budget funds and with the help of sponsors: enterprises, organizations, private businesses, as this facility is being built primarily for children's entertainment. According to the project, the total area of the zoo will be about 100 hectares. In free-range enclosures and specially built cages and indoor facilities, inhabitants of Belarusian forests and tropical jungles, the African savanna and the northern tundra will be settled. The first phase of the zoo will be commissioned this year. Animals that are currently in cramped conditions in the old zoo in the center of Vitebsk will be relocated here. -0-
