Vitebsk residents will be able to meet the famous astronomer Vitaly Nevsky
On June 4 (4:30 PM), an event with the renowned astronomer Vitaly Nevsky will be held at the "Dukhovskoy Kruglik" exhibition hall, as reported by the "Vitebsk" Cultural Center.
In March, "Dukhovskoy Kruglik" hosted an introduction to the scientist, Vladimir Golubev, Head of the Department of Engineering Physics at Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov, and author of textbooks and publications on astronomy.
Vitaly Nevsky is his most "starry" student. He has discovered a number of new celestial bodies. He named one asteroid in honor of his teacher – "Golubev". Thanks to Nevsky, the asteroid "Vitebsk" appeared in the Solar System. Incidentally, this object was discovered from a dacha settlement near Vitebsk. Here, in the early 90s, Vitaly, still very young and before his military service, established the country's first private observatory. The Belarusian astronomer also has several comets to his credit.
In addition to a conversation with the distinguished astronomer, the event organizers promise that guests will be able to observe sunspots. This opportunity will be provided by the club of Vitebsk amateur astronomers.
