Vitebsk residents have taken under public protection about 60% of entrances in apartment buildings

About 60% of entrances in apartment buildings in Vitebsk have been transferred to public safekeeping, the Director General of the unitary communal production enterprise "Vitebsk City Housing and Communal Services" Alexander Kusharev told a BELTA correspondent.

Transfer to public safekeeping implies that the entrance is equipped with code and code-intercom systems, and residents participate in its repair and independently maintain order. There are a total of 3363 such entrances in the city, and their number is increasing. According to Alexander Kusharev, this is largely facilitated by the explanatory work carried out by specialists of housing and operational sections with residents of apartment buildings, and the annual city competition "Where We Live", the winners of which receive significant prizes.

City authorities are increasingly trying to involve residents in ensuring order in their homes. There are 26 house committees operating in the city, entrance seniors have been elected, and 4893 entrances have been equipped with locking and locking-intercom devices.

In addition, with the involvement of the population, housing and operational services carry out landscaping of yard areas, repair, painting and installation of benches, children's playground equipment, and sports and utility grounds. This year, 14 yard areas are subject to comprehensive improvement in accordance with the city program "Yards". Br5.2 billion has been allocated for these purposes. Asphalt concrete pavement is planned to be repaired in 174 yards, of which work has already been completed in 47.

In 2010, 8 yard areas underwent major repairs, and in 328 yards, work was carried out on repairing the asphalt concrete pavement of territories, walkways, and sidewalks with a total area of 186.75 thousand sq.m at a cost of Br5.2 billion.

The housing stock serviced by the services of the unitary communal production enterprise "Vitebsk City Housing and Communal Services" consists of 1851 residential buildings, which have 908 yard areas.-0-
