Vitebsk resident sentenced to seven years in prison for assisting in "employment" in Germany
August 15, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. A Vitebsk resident has been sentenced to a long term of imprisonment for assisting in "employment" in Germany and delivering used cars from that country, the senior assistant to the prosecutor of the Vitebsk region for legal support, information and public relations of the Vitebsk region prosecutor's office, Irina Tavtyn, told a BELTA correspondent.
From August 2009 to June 2010, a native of Polotsk, born in 1978, being the director of a private unitary enterprise, offered services for the purchase and delivery of cars from Germany, providing work in Germany as drivers, and organizing tryouts for young footballers in German football clubs. He charged parents of students of football sports schools 540 euros, those wishing to be employed - 385 euros or $525, and for car delivery - from $1.5 thousand to $12 thousand. The cost for the latter included customs duties, a deposit, or full prepayment. In total, 47 people suffered from the fraudster's actions.
Having received a deposit from buyers, the company director then postponed the deadlines for fulfilling his obligations under various pretexts and did not return the money.
For fraud committed on a particularly large scale repeatedly, the man was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. He already has four previous convictions for similar crimes.-0-
