A Vitebsk woman resold rented apartments after previously robbing them
May 17, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. A Vitebsk resident sublet furnished apartments for a year after stealing from them. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Oleg Antonenko, assistant prosecutor of the Pervomaysky District of Vitebsk.
For a year, the resident of the regional center negotiated the rental of well-furnished apartments with their owners, received the keys, and then sublet them for a long term to other clients. Before handing over the keys to new tenants, she received a substantial prepayment for several months in advance, and also managed to reclassify the apartment she liked from furnished to unfurnished. At a low price, the Vitebsk resident sold everything she could – from household appliances and furniture to curtains and pillowcases. Then she disappeared, and the real owners and the remaining tenants, after some time, began to resolve the conflict and count the losses.
It was not immediately possible to find the enterprising woman, as she herself lived in rented apartments, constantly changing them. In total, she has more than 10 episodes of criminal acts to her credit. A criminal case has been initiated against the 50-year-old woman for theft and fraud under Part 1 and Part 2 of Article 205 and Part 2 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Belarus, the maximum penalty for which provides for up to four years of imprisonment. -0-
