According to official data from the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, the number of citizens in our country who sell handmade products in accordance with the norms of Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 225 "On some issues of carrying out handicraft activities by individuals". We remind you that the mentioned document specifies what exactly relates to this type of activity, and also determines the amount of the monetary fee: one base value per year.

Since the amount is small, and we have always had enough folk craftsmen, more and more people are using the opportunity to sell handmade items legally every year. Thus, as of January 1, 2015, 8,776 individuals paid the fee for carrying out such activities throughout the country, which is 693 more people than the same indicator last year. The city of Minsk leads in terms of the number of registered artisans – 1,913. The Vitebsk region is in second place – 1,427. Brest region is slightly behind it.

By the way, in December 2014, a new document was adopted, in accordance with which amendments and additions were made to the aforementioned Decree No. 225. The list of types of handicraft activities has been supplemented with soap making and guipure embroidery. And craftsmen are allowed to sell their goods not only independently, but also on the basis of civil law contracts concluded with legal entities and individual entrepreneurs.
