The installation of the New Year tree, the main attribute of the winter holiday, has begun on Victory Square. The assembly of the 35-meter beauty, consisting of a hundred live fir trees, will last until the end of the first ten days of December, and it will sparkle with lights in all its glory on December 15. The light motifs of the tree's attire and the illuminations on the square are planned to remain largely the same as last year. In addition to decorating the central square of the city, work will continue on equipping Suvorov Street, Moskovsky Prospekt, Frunze Prospekt, and other streets with festive illumination. Trade enterprises of the region are also actively preparing for the upcoming holidays. Many of them have already opened sections with New Year's goods, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Trade and Services Department reported. Expanded trade in Christmas tree decorations, carnival costumes, artificial Christmas trees, and New Year-themed souvenirs has been organized. 88.7 thousand New Year's gift sets have already arrived in stores, with a fairly wide selection. About 15 types of gifts are offered by "Kommunarka" and up to 10 by "Spartak". In addition, at the request of customers, sellers can assemble a gift set of any size. In the near future, the region will begin to hold exhibitions-sales, tastings, promotional events with gift giveaways, and sales at reduced prices. New Year's fairs will open on December 1, and Christmas tree markets will start operating on December 18. -0-
