Vitebsk intends to prioritize the development of roads, housing, and forest park areas in the next two years

July 30, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The construction of roads, housing and leisure facilities for citizens should become a priority task for the Vitebsk authorities. This was stated today at a working meeting on the development of Vitebsk by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, reports a BELTA correspondent. Vitebsk is a dynamically developing city: the number of its residents is growing, and traffic flows are increasing. In this regard, the issue of creating a modern road infrastructure, building housing and organizing places for cultural recreation for residents is acute. "Within the next two years, it is necessary to solve three urban problems: roads, housing, leisure facilities - buffer forest park zones on the border of Vitebsk and Vitebsk region. If we do not address these issues now, it will be much more difficult to do so in the future," Alexander Kosinets emphasized. To free the city center from transit traffic, where the Summer Amphitheater, the main concert venue of the international festival of arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk," located far beyond the country's borders, is situated, the phased construction of two ring roads is planned - an outer and an inner one. One of them will pass outside the territory of Vitebsk, and its construction in the southwest direction is already underway. The second road will pass within the city limits and, at the first stage, will connect the northern and western outskirts of the city. In addition, to implement the inner ring project, another bridge across the Western Dvina will have to be built. Speaking about housing construction, Alexander Kosinets stressed: "Vitebsk needs to build 220-250 thousand square meters of housing per year." Construction should be carried out in the Bilevo and Sokolniki microdistricts; multi-story residential buildings will appear along Leningradskaya Street and along Beshenkovichi Highway. In addition to intensifying housing construction, attention must be paid to the development of tourist and leisure infrastructure. In particular, the city is in dire need of modern comfortable hotels. In this regard, the governor instructed the local authorities to intensify the search for investors for their construction. Another pressing problem for the industrial city is the creation of city parks and forest park zones. The forests adjacent to the city are cluttered, sanitary logging is not carried out, beaches are not equipped on the adjacent lakes, and trade is not developed, stated Alexander Kosinets. The governor instructed to equip 15-20 kilometer equipped recreation areas around the territory of Vitebsk: with paths for cycling and rollerblading, with barbecue areas and gazebos. "People need to be provided with conditions for recreation in nature, for walking in the forest - after all, it is health," he emphasized. To implement the set tasks, a program for the development of Vitebsk will be developed in the region. "Within two years, Vitebsk needs to be brought to a filigree state," concluded Alexander Kosinets. Funds for the implementation of this program will be allocated in next year's budget. In addition, the authorities expect to attract investors to its implementation.
