«Chronicles of Absence». This is how artist Andrey Dukhovnikov named his exhibition at the Vitebsk Center for Contemporary Art.

«

The main task of my work has always been the search for an individual style and new ways of conveying impulses generated by fantasy», – explains the author and confirms this statement with the presented works.

The exhibition features graphic sheets with many urban scenes. This is not a specific settlement on the world map, but Andrey Dukhovnikov's personal city with features of Vitebsk, Riga, Berlin, Warsaw, and other beautiful places. Recognizable architectural images are intertwined with fictional ones, seen in dreams. The artist deliberately does not fully draw the details, allowing the viewer to complete his story. Therefore, the works require contemplation and reflection, as if inviting on a leisurely walk. Many note the musicality of the paintings, which are mostly tuned to the key of blues.

Andrey Dukhovnikov graduated from the Art and Graphics Department of VSU named after P. Masherov. He considers himself a follower of the Vitebsk Art School and, as the director of the Center for Contemporary Art, studies its history. His works have been exhibited in Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, and Poland. He has many admirers, particularly among guests of the

«Slavianski Bazaar», who gladly purchase paintings by the Vitebsk artist.

«

Chronicles of Absence» is a retelling of the inner state of the artist, drawing his city where no one has ever been.
