Vitebsk to host Belarusian Beach Soccer Championship for the first time

July 5, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. The next stage of the IV Belarusian Beach Soccer Championship - Vitebsk Grand Prix - will be held in the city over the Daugava River on July 9-10. The northernmost of the regional centers of Belarus will host participants of republican competitions in this sport for the first time, BELTA was informed by the department of physical culture, sports and tourism of the regional executive committee.

The tournament in Vitebsk became possible thanks to the construction of the only beach soccer field in the city so far, which was opened in 2010. The sports facility with 450 seats is located in a landscaped recreation area in the floodplain of the Vitba River in the central part of the city.

Eight teams will gather in Vitebsk to participate in the championship games. Based on the results of the Vitebsk Grand Prix, it will become clear whether the teams will be able to compete with BATE Borisov for the championship title, or whether the intrigue will unfold only around the possible owners of silver and bronze medals of the championship. So far, Shakhtyor Soligorsk and Kirovsk-DYuSSh are in second and third places, respectively. In addition, the Vitebsk team VitVar, which debuted in the national championship this year, will try not to "fall face in the sand" in front of Vitebsk football fans and improve its tournament position with the help of home ground.

The Vitebsk Grand Prix will be a kind of rehearsal for the national beach soccer team before the international tournament "Friendship Cup", which will also be held in Vitebsk from July 15 to 17 with the participation of teams from 10 countries. The core of the Belarusian team consists of players from BATE Borisov. -0-
