Vitebsk welcomes Nowruz with an exhibition of Iranian miniatures
March 18, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Vitebsk welcomes the spring equinox holiday of Navruz with an exhibition of Iranian miniatures. The exposition is presented at the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore, reports a BELTA correspondent.
The exhibition features 30 works created in the traditions of Persian painting by artist Fereshteh Azarbani. Dedicated to the new year 1389 according to the Iranian calendar, which is celebrated on the spring equinox, March 21, the miniatures are filled with peace and love. The artist's main subjects are beautiful girls and young men, birds and flowers, floral ornaments, and horses. According to all the canons of miniature creation, all the details of the works are rendered with filigree precision. This art captivates the viewer with its depth: the miniatures attract attention with the amazing elegance of their elements, each of which one wants to examine thoroughly.
The exhibition is organized by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Belarus. As noted by the cultural advisor of the embassy, Ebrahim Shafiei, the residents of Vitebsk were its first viewers. Then the exposition will be presented in Minsk.
Navruz (translated as "new day") has been celebrated since ancient times by the inhabitants of Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, as well as various ethnic groups living in Turkey, Iraq, Syria, and Pakistan. In the CIS countries, it is also celebrated at the state level in Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. On the eve of the holiday, all grievances are forgiven. All people, wherever they may be, return home to be with their families at the moment the festive morning arrives. The holiday is characterized by ritual games, dances, and bright clothing. In every family, a rich table is laid with national dishes, sweets, and drinks. Sprouted wheat grains are considered the main ritual dish of Navruz. -0-
