Vitebsk's "Art-session" will host a flax assessment for the first time
May 19, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Vitebsk "Art-Session" will host a flax competition for the first time. On May 20, the XIX competition-exhibition of visual arts for students of art specialties of higher educational institutions will feature a show in the "Flax Dress" nomination, the Center for Culture "Vitebsk" informed a BELTA correspondent.
The pioneering participants in this nomination are students of the Vitebsk State Technological University, who have prepared about 50 competition entries. The main task for the future designers and fashion designers was to maximize the potential of using flax fabrics in clothing manufacturing. The professional jury and the audience of the show will evaluate how successfully they achieved this goal.
The three best authors will be awarded special prizes at the general award ceremony of "Art-Session" on the evening of May 20. In addition, the competition organizers are discussing with the directorate of the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" international arts festival the possibility of showcasing the flax dresses, recognized by the jury, during the forum's events.
The "Art-Session" competition-exhibition will be held in Vitebsk from May 20 to 22. This year, it will be attended by students from 14 educational institutions from Belarus, Russia, and Latvia. Participants will present works in six sections: painting, graphics, sculpture, decorative and applied arts, design, and in the specially approved nomination "The Tale of Bygone Years. Continuation," dedicated to Polotsk in connection with its declaration as the cultural capital of Belarus. The works will be evaluated by a jury composed of independent experts. Winners of all nominations will be awarded special prizes and "art scholarships."
The event is organized by the Department of Culture and the Department for Youth Affairs of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, the Department of Culture of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, and the Center for Culture "Vitebsk" with the assistance of the Belarusian Union of Artists and the Belarusian Union of Designers. -0-
