Vitebsk broiler poultry farm plans to exceed the annual meat production target by 4 thousand tons
September 2, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Vitebsk Broiler Poultry Farm OJSC plans to exceed its annual meat production target by 4 thousand tons in 2010, the company's director and member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly, Anna Shareiko, told BELTA correspondent.
The Poultry Development Program in Belarus for 2006-2010 envisaged increasing poultry meat production at the enterprise from 18 thousand tons in 2006 to 28 thousand tons in 2010, with a sales profitability of about 11%. According to the results of January-July, the farm produced 19.3 thousand tons of poultry meat, the sales profitability approached 20%, and by the end of the current year, the output will reach 32 thousand tons.
The poultry farmers were able to exceed the set tasks by implementing their own five-year development plan aimed at creating a high-tech, biosafe production. Over five years, about Br200 billion has been invested in fixed assets. Funds were directed to the construction of new facilities: a breeding stock young bird workshop in the Liozno district, complexes for laying hens, and an industrial incubator for 18 million eggs. All this was done in accordance with international veterinary and sanitary safety rules, at a distance from the main production. In parallel with these works, the poultry meat processing workshops and the utilization workshop were reconstructed, and facilities ensuring the environmental safety of production were built. Two years ago, the broiler farm introduced autonomous heating for all production sites and workshops, which significantly reduced energy costs. In 2008 and 2009, the target for energy saving was exceeded and amounted to minus 18.9% and minus 13.3% respectively.
Another decisive factor in exceeding the forecast indicators was the introduction of modern intensive broiler growing technologies. The traditional floor housing of poultry in new poultry houses has been replaced by the cage system for raising chicks. With floor housing, typically 25,000 chicks are kept in one poultry house hall, while with the new method, 65,000 chicks are kept in the same area. In fact, 2.5 times more meat is produced per 1 sq.m of area, explained Anna Shareiko.
Vitebsk Broiler Poultry Farm is the only one in the region where poultry meat is produced on an industrial scale with a closed production cycle: from obtaining breeding chicks, producing hatching eggs, growing broilers to the complete processing of poultry meat into ready-to-cook semi-finished products, smoked products, and sausages. The product range includes over 200 product items made from poultry meat, including semi-finished products, ready-to-cook semi-finished products, smoked products, hams, pates, and sausages. All products are sold under the "Hanna" trademark.
Vitebsk Broiler Poultry Farm was opened in 1981 and reorganized into an open joint-stock company in 2004. The charter capital is Br70.9 billion. The state owns 99.59% of the shares. The enterprise employs over 2,000 people. -0-
