The Vitebsk Philharmonic will present a children's musical for the first time on New Year's Eve

The Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic Society has prepared a surprise for young Vitebsk residents during the New Year holidays, turning to such a relatively young genre as a musical for the first time in its history. On the eve of the New Year, the premiere of the children's musical "By the Pike's Command" will take place at the philharmonic society. This was announced today to journalists by the artistic director of the philharmonic society, Nelly Matsaberidze, reports a BELTA correspondent. The production is based on a musical work by Russian composer Vladimir Chernyavsky, based on a Russian folk tale. "Although the composer himself sees it as a musical fairy tale, we decided to expand it, introduce choreographic numbers and call the resulting synthetic performance a musical," said Nelly Matsaberidze. The enchanting world of the Russian fairy tale about Emelya, full of transformations, adventures and magic, is embodied in musical sounds, vivid images and endless folk humor. The central and cementing image of the entire performance is Winter, which is embodied with the help of a piano. Composer Vladimir Chernyavsky has a modern musical language, so the musical's directors had to make only a slight stylization, adding the sound of balalaikas to the piano, which help create the atmosphere of the action, as well as "force" the performers to sing, dance and act like dramatic actors. Costumes were specially created for the musical, and scenographic solutions will help young viewers immerse themselves in the sparkling action of the fairy tale. In addition, the musical's program is designed as a coloring book, so young viewers will be able to recreate the captured images after attending the performance. The premiere has generated increased interest among Vitebsk residents, all tickets for the performances have been sold out, so the philharmonic society has to schedule additional showings of the musical. "We hope that the New Year's surprise was a success, and judging by how the work on the production went, this philharmonic form became a surprise for the artists themselves," said Nelly Matsaberidze. In addition, the philharmonic society actively participates in city New Year's events and organizes charity events during the Christmas holidays. Traditionally, children from social institutions and children with disabilities will be guests of the philharmonic society during these days. The goal of the New Year's events is very serious - to ensure that no young Vitebsk resident is left without a holiday, emphasized Nelly Matsaberidze. -0-
