Vitebsk City Central Hospital in Markovshchina is closing for renovation
According to Yuri Derkach, Head of the Healthcare Department of the Regional Executive Committee, member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, the temporary relocation of departments will not affect the quality of medical care in Vitebsk.
– This decision was made so that the builders could get to work and finish everything quickly, – he explained. – Extensive preparatory work has been carried out. Patients with open forms of tuberculosis have been transferred from the Vitebsk Regional Tuberculosis Dispensary to the Vitebsk Regional Tuberculosis Hospital in Богушевск, where appropriate conditions have been created for them. And in the dispensary's inpatient facility, which, by the way, has undergone modern renovation, the pulmonology, intensive care, and rheumatology departments, the emergency room, and the laboratories of the reconstructed hospital will be temporarily located. The remaining departments will be located in the First City Hospital during the renovation. The main thing is that the entire staff potential will be preserved, and the city's bed capacity will not decrease. The reconstruction will require 7.5 million rubles, and the funds have been allocated.
According to Yuri Nikolaevich, the funds were found by implementing high technologies in the industry, which in turn allowed for reduced costs in providing medical care.
– For example, endovascular surgery equipment is actively used in the healthcare institutions of the Vitebsk region, – noted Yuri Derkach. – Last year alone, more than 3,000 patients underwent vascular stenting, which means they will not develop a heart attack or stroke. Funds are saved on their treatment, and often on disability support. The structure of the maternity service has been optimized – now women's health clinics have become structural units of maternity hospitals, which is the right approach.
Due to improved diagnostics of malignant tumors in the region, the detection of cancer at early stages increased by 3-5% last year, which means reduced expenses on expensive medications.
The network of ophthalmology departments in the region has been expanded and equipped with modern equipment. Now, many patients can undergo examination and treatment during outpatient appointments.
Since last year, treatment for patients with viral hepatitis C has been implemented: about 300 people will undergo therapy this year. In general, medical care is becoming increasingly accessible and high-quality.
The main construction work on the reconstruction of the hospital on Gorky Street is internal. The external renovation of the buildings was completed earlier. It is planned not only to modernize the premises but also to install modern surgical and therapeutic equipment in the institution.
