Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine celebrated its 98th anniversary

For close cooperation and interaction, the highest award of the academy – Honorary Professor – was bestowed upon Larisa Karpenko, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Physiology at St. Petersburg State University of Veterinary Medicine; Alexander Lysenko, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Head of the Laboratory at the Research Institute "Biofarm"; and Anna Norkus, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, General Director of Vitebsk Broiler Poultry Factory OJSC. She expressed gratitude on behalf of the enterprise's 4,000-strong staff to everyone involved in personnel training. Over more than 40 years, several generations and many dynasties of specialists have passed through Vitebsk Broiler Poultry Factory. Anna Norkus wished the academy continuous improvement and, as a gift, presented a certificate for the purchase of a laptop.

The Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, came to congratulate his alma mater. Next year marks 25 years since he graduated from the academy, 15 of which were dedicated to his native university. Alexander Subbotin noted that such celebrations are familiar and close to him because he participated in their organization, first as a student, then as a teacher. Over the years of its existence, the academy has made a loud and successful statement about itself; it is known both in near and far abroad for its scientific research and educational traditions. Alexander Subbotin thanked the professors, teaching staff, employees, and students, and wished them to move forward in all directions. For this, there are resources and opportunities.

On the academy's birthday, four international scientific and practical conferences were held with the participation of scientists from Belarus and Russia – Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Volgograd, Kaliningrad, Samara, Smolensk, Kirov, Izhevsk, Podolsk.

Traditionally, wreaths and flowers were laid at the monument to the teachers, students, and staff of the Vitebsk Veterinary Institute who fell in the battles for the Soviet Motherland during the Great Patriotic War.
