Vitebsk and Pskov regions intend to take interregional cooperation to a new level

The administrations of Vitebsk and Pskov regions plan to develop a program of joint actions for 2019, which will contribute to a new level of cooperation between the two regions. This was announced today in Vitebsk by the first deputy governor of the Pskov region, Vera Emelyanova, at a meeting with the chairman of the Vitebsk regional council of deputies, Vladimir Terentyev.

Cooperation between Vitebsk and Pskov regions is actively developing in all areas, including that most districts of the Russian region have inter-municipal partnership agreements with districts of the Vitebsk region, noted Vera Emelyanova. Today it is necessary to discuss cooperation events for 2019, including in healthcare, social protection, employment, youth policy, and other areas aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens of the two regions.

The proposals developed during the working meeting in Vitebsk will form the basis of an updated cooperation agreement between the regions and a program of joint actions for 2019, which may be signed as early as autumn of the current year, believes the first vice-governor. On the initiative of the Russian side, it is proposed to include projects related to the study of Belarusian experience in solving personnel issues in the healthcare system in the social block of events.

"In the educational sphere, we are interested in learning how work with gifted children is organized in Belarus, how the system of additional education institutions is developing, and I hope this will also be reflected in the long-term plan of joint actions," clarified Vera Emelyanova. In addition, the Russians intend to discuss a number of initiatives on patriotic themes, aimed at intensifying contacts between youth organizations of the Belarusian and Russian regions.
