Vitebsk police takes a step towards the region's residents
January 27, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The coming year 2010 will be held for employees of the internal affairs bodies of the Vitebsk region under the motto "A Step Towards," said today at a press conference the head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Naydenko.
During the year, police officers intend to reach every resident of the region, regardless of where they live - in a big city or in a remote village. "The residential sector will be worked out by 100%," emphasized Alexander Naydenko. According to him, the goal of this campaign is to tell how and what the police live today, to hear firsthand what worries residents, what help they expect to receive from law enforcement agencies. Thus, police officers hope that establishing contacts with the public will help in crime prevention and contribute to an increase in public trust.
As Alexander Naydenko noted, last year 35 residents of the region were encouraged by the leadership of the Internal Affairs Directorate for assisting the internal affairs bodies in solving crimes.
At the same time, according to the results of public opinion monitoring in 2009, the level of full trust in the police in the region was 36.6%. Effective measures to ensure law and order, protect the rights and freedoms of citizens have formed a high level of full public trust in the police in Lepel, Senno, Gorodok, and Dubrovno districts. -0-
