Vitebsk region will strive to become a leader in Belarus's agro-industrial complex - A. Kosinets

September 23, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA /. The Vitebsk region will strive to take leading positions in the agro-industrial complex of Belarus. This was stated today by the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, during a meeting with members of the Vitebsk region delegation at the republican festival-fair of rural workers "Dazhynki-2010", according to a BELTA correspondent. The region has developed a program for the development of the agro-industrial complex for 2011-2015, which provides for the creation of conditions that ensure an increase in the economic efficiency of the agro-industrial complex, primarily through the formation of sustainable profitable production. The foundation for the successful implementation of plans was laid in the last 1.5 years, according to Alexander Kosinets. The region has re-equipped its machine and tractor fleet, acquiring more than 7 thousand units of equipment during this period. Today, 850 high-power tractors and about 1 thousand new harvesters are working in the fields, and this work is planned to continue. "Having such high-power equipment, we have to work hard to increase the contour of the fields," the head of the region set the task. In total, under the "Clean Fields" program, it is necessary to clear about 100 thousand hectares of shrubs, which in the future will allow for an annual saving of about Br70 billion on fuel alone, and ultimately generate profit and reduce the cost of agricultural products. "We must do everything possible to carry out the sowing of spring crops on completely new prepared areas as early as next year," emphasized Alexander Kosinets. The work carried out in recent years to increase the efficiency of the agro-industrial complex allows the region to strive for a harvest of 2 million tons. Already next year, it is necessary to achieve a yield of at least 40-50 centners per hectare. "The region has everything necessary for this, we just need to work efficiently and with high technology, therefore, rural workers are our main capital in solving the tasks set," believes the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee. The delegation of the Vitebsk region to the republican festival-fair of rural workers "Dazhynki-2010" includes more than 100 grain growers and machine operators, heads of districts and farms, distinguished agricultural workers, including more than 60 winners and prize-winners of republican competitions for harvesting grain and leguminous crops, haylage preparation, and the republican review-competition "Land use of high farming culture, improvement of machine yards, livestock farms and complexes" in various nominations. -0-
