This was stated in his New Year's address to the residents of the region by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, according to a BELTA correspondent. 2010 is a significant year. It is the year of the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the last year of the concluding five-year plan. "We have a lot to do in the socio-economic development of the Vitebsk region, to achieve significant results in many areas," the governor emphasized. In particular, it is necessary to ensure a production growth rate at comparable prices of 111%-113% compared to the 2009 level, the output of consumer goods and trade turnover of 114%-115%, to bring grain harvesting to 1.5 million tons, and to complete the technical modernization of the agro-industrial complex. A huge amount of work is to be done in housing construction. It is necessary to commission 720 thousand sq.m. Moreover, in the new Vitebsk microdistrict Bilevo-2 alone, 300 thousand sq.m. must be built. All economic entities of the region have been set the task to complete the year and the five-year plan by November 1, fulfilling all forecast indicators. According to Alexander Kosinets, all this is real and possible if there is the highest discipline, organization, and effective management. "We have to work very hard, while labor productivity should be at least 120%. Only with such a result is it possible to achieve the forecast indicators," the head of the region noted.
