Vitebsk region is ready to handle the flood

The Vitebsk region is ready to handle the flood, the head of the Vitebsk regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Vasily Chekan, told a BELTA correspondent. With the arrival of warmth, the time of active water level increase has begun in the region: the water level of rivers increases by more than half a meter daily. However, according to weather forecasters, a severe flood with the inundation of settlements in river floodplains is not expected this year. At the same time, employees of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, not particularly counting on the mercy of nature, have prepared for the flood. A traditional set of measures has been worked out to prepare personnel, and the necessary equipment, including that of housing and communal services and forestry enterprises, which can be involved if necessary, has been checked. Instructions were also given to residents of Verkhnedvinsk, Polotsk, Glubokoe, Lepel and other districts living in hazardous areas. At the same time, special attention was paid to educational work among children and adolescents, Vasily Chekan noted. -0-
