Vitebsk region launches the tourist project "Cornflower Land"

The pilot project "Vasilkovy Krai" (Cornflower Land) is planned to be implemented in the Vitebsk region in the coming years. Its goal is to promote the tourism potential of the northern region of the country through the internet and social media, and to develop convenient infrastructure for various tourists, as reported by the regional executive committee.

The organizers intend to create a mobile application "Vasilkovy Krai - Life" with key tourist sites included in the pilot project mapped online. It will involve 12 regions: Vitebsk, Braslavsky, Verkhnedvinsky, Gluboksky, Dokshitsky, Lepelsky, Miorsky, Orshansky, Polotsky, Postavsky, Rossonsky, and Ushachsky districts. The development of cultural and educational, local history, ecological, industrial, and other tourist routes will be carried out taking into account the specifics of the region, the duration of tourist stays, and their travel capabilities. Each district will present its unique features and most significant places. For example, the Ushachsky district is the birthplace of famous writers, the Miorsky district has the beautiful "Yelnya" reserve, and Polotsk is rich in history, attractions, and museums.

The application will combine navigation through the cities and district centers of the region, including audio guides, routes, and virtual tours of popular, exclusive, and original places and attractions. Artisans, tour guides, as well as agro-tourism estates, museums, hotels, and other tourism industry entities are planned to be involved in the implementation of "Vasilkovy Krai".

The pilot project is being implemented by the Department of Sports and Tourism of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. The implementation period is 2021-2023.
