Vitebsk region threshed 1 million tons of grain thanks to the labor heroism of the people - A. Kosinets
August 12, Vitebsk /Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. The Vitebsk region has surpassed the one million mark in grain threshing and fulfilled the state order for the sale of food grain thanks to the true labor heroism in the fields and grain drying complexes of the region's residents, those who sow and plow, care for the crops, and produce equipment. This is stated in a telegram to the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko from the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets, reports BELTA correspondent.
Today, over 70% of the grain crops to be harvested in the region have been harvested, with over 1 million tons threshed at an average yield of 32 centners per hectare. More than 2,000 combine harvesters and over 3,000 transport vehicles work daily in the grain fields, and about 780 grain drying and processing facilities are in operation.
The result and quality of the harvest are achieved through targeted work to improve farming practices, soil fertility, and field contouring, the telegram states. Over the past 3 years, the Vitebsk region's agriculture has significantly strengthened technically, with the acquisition of 650 high-power tractors, 600 vehicles, over 1.3 thousand grain harvesters, and the installation of 57 new grain drying complexes. The volumes of mineral and organic fertilizer application have been significantly increased.
The Vitebsk region thanks the head of state for his support and assistance in resolving agrarian issues in the northern region and will continue to make every effort to fulfill its commitments and address the tasks facing the country, the telegram notes.-0-
