Vitebsk region has exceeded the five-year target for retail sales growth rate
The projected indicator for the retail sales growth rate, set for the five-year period at 160-167%, has been met, reaching 167.1% in comparable prices for 2006-2009. The consumer market is supplied by Belarusian producers by 98-100%.
September 16, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The Vitebsk region has exceeded the five-year target for the retail sales growth rate. This was announced today at a regular session of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies by the Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Oleg Matskevich, according to a BELTA correspondent.
The projected indicator for the retail sales growth rate, set for the five-year period at 160-167%, has been met, reaching 167.1% in comparable prices for 2006-2009. For the first eight months of the current year, the retail sales growth rate was 114.5%. As Oleg Matskevich noted, the region's consumer market ensures the uninterrupted availability of the entire range of goods produced by domestic industry. The consumer goods market is formed to a greater extent by supplies from Belarusian producers for key product groups, including meat, poultry, meat products, butter, sugar, flour, mineral water, and non-alcoholic beverages. The consumer market is supplied by Belarusian producers by 98-100%.
At the same time, according to Oleg Matskevich, trade enterprises pay insufficient attention to fostering "consumer patriotism." The results of monitoring trade enterprises showed that there are still many instances of domestic goods being unavailable for sale or having a limited assortment. However, producers should also pay closer attention to improving the quality of their products, expanding their range, and developing new types, emphasized the deputy chairman of the regional executive committee. -0-
