Vitebsk region was the first among the regions to fulfill the state order for grain
Vitebsk region was the first among the regions to fulfill the state order for grain supply. This was announced today at a briefing by Mikhail Pridibaylo, Chairman of the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
"The state order for the supply of food grain has been fulfilled by Vitebsk region in full, being the first among all regions of the republic. The quality of the grain meets GOST standards," said the chairman of the committee.
Among the factors contributing to the fulfillment of this task, Mikhail Pridibaylo noted the serious work of specialists and farmers of the region on strict adherence to crop production technology. This includes the use of new varieties, full compliance with technological requirements for grain production, competent work with fertilizers, and the use of high-performance equipment.
Vitebsk region supplied 102 thousand tons of grain under the state order, including 57.7 thousand tons of wheat, 42.7 thousand tons of rye, and 1.6 thousand tons of barley. Among the districts, the most significant contribution was made by Orsha (11.2 thousand tons supplied), Tolochin (8.1 thousand tons), Vitebsk (8.2 thousand tons), and Verkhnedvinsk (7 thousand tons). Among the enterprises are the Orsha, Vitebsk, and Polotsk integration structures. For example, the Orsha integration structure, which includes 18 enterprises from Orsha, Dubrovno, and Tolochin districts, harvested 77 thousand tons of grain in bunker weight with an average yield of 30.5 centners per hectare, of which 10.1 thousand tons were supplied under the state order.
"Difficult weather conditions did not allow Vitebsk region to harvest the planned 1 million tons of grain. However, we managed to obtain 756 thousand tons in bunker weight. The average yield also turned out to be lower than projected - at the level of 25.4 centners per hectare," added Mikhail Pridibaylo.
In addition, the chairman of the regional agricultural committee commented on the progress of fodder harvesting. "To provide livestock with feed, 600-700 thousand tons of grain are needed. We do not have such a volume, so we are focusing on harvesting forage crops and corn," said Mikhail Pridibaylo. He noted that farms in Vitebsk region have increasingly reoriented themselves to advanced technologies this year, for example,
forage into stretch film. If in 2017, 60 thousand tons of haylage were prepared in this way, then this year it is already almost 108 thousand tons.
