Vitebsk region is the first in Belarus to plan to adopt a program to combat arterial hypertension
May 21, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. The Vitebsk region is the first in Belarus to plan to adopt a regional program to combat arterial hypertension. This was announced today to journalists, answering a question from a BELTA correspondent, by the chairman of the Belarusian Public Association for Arterial Hypertension, head of the Department of Therapy No. 1 of the Faculty of Advanced Training and Retraining of Personnel of the Vitebsk State Medical University (VSMU), Vladislav Podpalov, before the opening of the V International Conference "Arterial Hypertension in the Aspect of Solving the Problem of Demographic Security" at VSMU.
The creation of such a targeted comprehensive program, which has been discussed at all levels and whose developers are the regional executive committee and the medical university, will be the first experience not only at the regional but also at the republican levels, emphasized Vladislav Podpalov. The program is designed for 5 years and will be implemented in several stages. Its implementation will lead to a reduction in the number of heart attacks and strokes, as well as a decrease in mortality from circulatory diseases in the Vitebsk region in the next 3-5 years. This result is planned to be achieved primarily through the more effective use of new technologies in the fight against arterial hypertension, noted Vladislav Podpalov.
"In fact, we have already started its implementation since February of this year, and now we will further discuss its provisions during the conference, after which the document will be submitted for approval by the regional executive committee," he said.
The conference also plans to discuss the progress of the National Program for Demographic Security. Its main task is to stabilize the demographic situation and increase life expectancy, and the fight against arterial hypertension should play a key role in this, Vladislav Podpalov is confident. In addition, one of the conference events will be dedicated to the discussion of national recommendations for arterial hypertension, which are essentially an algorithm of actions for a primary care physician in treating this disease.
Scientists and medics from Belarus, Russia, Poland, Sweden, and Greece are taking part in the conference, which will conclude on May 22. -0-
