The Vitebsk region plans to continuously increase housing construction volumes in 2011-2015 and reach an annual volume of 1.2 million sq.m of residential area by the end of the five-year period. This was announced to journalists by the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Anatoly Diulin, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. In 2011, it is planned to commission about 850 thousand sq.m in the region, which is 118% of the current year's target. In the upcoming five-year period, the Regional Executive Committee will pay more attention to the architectural appearance of the regional center and the cities of the region, therefore, one of the priorities will be the construction of beautiful, high-quality houses in various architectural designs and with the use of modern design solutions. "We intend to move away from the monotony of panel housing construction, so we are focusing the construction complex on having a finished end product for every taste, whether it is residential buildings built with state support or commercial housing, or enhanced comfort housing," noted Anatoly Diulin. Along with the construction of panel houses of standard consumer qualities as the most affordable housing for those on the waiting list, it is also planned to orient construction organizations towards the construction of houses using modern construction technologies, and to stimulate low-rise construction, which will expand the offer for citizens with a sufficient level of income who wish to improve their housing conditions. The main housing construction sites in Vitebsk will be several new microdistricts. Thus, after the completion of the development of the Bilevo-1 microdistrict, where it is planned to build about 280 thousand sq.m of housing, builders will begin the active development of the territory for the Bilevo-2 microdistrict. In 2011, work in the Medtsentr microdistrict will be completed, and construction of the Luchosa microdistrict will begin. Large social facilities will be built in parallel. In Bilevo, a new kindergarten for 170 places will be opened this year, and in 2011, it is planned to lay the foundations for a new school and two more kindergartens. The practice of point housing development in already formed urban areas will continue. In this regard, a microdistrict in the area of Chapayev and Mira streets promises to be interesting, where it is planned to demolish 8 dilapidated houses and build 7 multi-story residential buildings (up to 20 floors) in their place. Individual housing construction will also be developed; to meet the needs for land plots of individual developers, the city is designing two microdistricts on the outskirts within the prospective city limits. According to the results of 2010, it is planned to build over 720 thousand sq.m of residential area in the region, of which about 300 thousand sq.m will be commissioned in the regional center. -0-
