Vitebsk region plans to harvest over 1 million tons of grain in barn weight

The harvesting campaign in the Vitebsk region is proceeding according to plan, although due to weather conditions, the harvest is planned at the level of more than 1 million tons of grain in bin weight. This was announced today to journalists by the chairman of the regional executive committee, Alexander Kosinets, BELTA correspondent reports. This year, the region has set a target of harvesting 1.5 million tons of grain in bunker weight. Such grain was in the fields, but the abnormal heat made adjustments, the chairman of the regional executive committee noted. "Already in the first decade of July, all the fields turned yellow, and the ear did not have time to ripen, which is why we will ultimately lose part of the harvest," said Alexander Kosinets. At the same time, due to the hot weather, harvesting is carried out almost for bin weight, as the grain moisture content is 10-12% and grain drying complexes are almost not working. In general, the region is calmly moving towards its goal, the chairman of the regional executive committee is confident. A total of about 40% of the grain acreage has been mowed, and about 450 thousand tons of grain have been threshed. It is necessary to harvest about 75% of spring crops and 40% of winter crops, which is more than 250 thousand hectares of land. Also this year, for the first time, the region allocated about 25 thousand hectares for grain corn, the harvesting of which is planned to begin in early September. A strategy for the development of the agro-industrial complex has been developed in the region, and crop production is capable of contributing to the increase in gross output of the region's AIC, Alexander Kosinets added. -0-
