Vitebsk region shows an increase in grain yield compared to last year's level
Currently, the region's grain growers are harvesting 32.2 centners of grain per hectare, while last year on the same date this figure was 29.8 centners, as reported by the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
The yield from the region's fields is higher than in the Gomel and Mogilev regions. For the first time, an absolute majority of districts (17 out of 21) have achieved a yield of over 40 centners/ha. "There are farms that are harvesting more than 60 centners per hectare - these are 'Larinovka' in Orsha district and 'Klevtsy' in Liozno district, which are harvesting 65.5 and 63.7 centners respectively. About 30 farms have a yield of 50 centners and above. For example, 'Yakubovo-Agro' in Dubrovno district is harvesting 57 centners, and 'Ol'govskoye' near Vitebsk and 'Pridneprovskoye' in the aforementioned Dubrovno district are harvesting 55 centners per round," stated the regional agricultural department.
According to operational data as of the morning of August 7, about 31% of the grain fields in the region have been harvested (about 120 thousand hectares), and over 387 thousand tons of grain have been threshed. The region's grain growers harvest about 5% of the area per day.
