Vitebsk region joined the large-scale republican motor rally dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Khatyn tragedy
– Khatyn, burned by the fascists 80 years ago – on March 22, 1943 – is not just a page of the Great Patriotic War, it is a symbol of a great tragedy, an unhealing pain in the hearts of Belarusians, true patriots, – noted Olga Matsyus, chairperson of the regional organization "Patriots of Belarus."
Today, motor rallies have started from all districts of the country, heading to the Minsk region. In Vitebsk, it began with laying flowers at the Eternal Flame of the "Three Bayonets" memorial complex.
– Representatives of different generations and public associations gathered at the Eternal Flame to once again touch this memorial complex with their souls, to feel the pain of innocent people who endured inhuman suffering. Tears well up from the offense that after 80 years we have to defend the honor and dignity of veterans, – noted Olga Matsyus. – We must all unite in one impulse and under no circumstances allow such terrible events today. True patriots are obliged to protect their history and pass it on to the younger generation so that they remember that terrible war in which we were unconquered and undefeated. We will not be broken, because we are together!
10 vehicles departed from Vitebsk, participants of the motor rally from Novopolotsk, Polotsk, Orsha will join the convoy near Lepel. Participants from all regions of the country will gather in Minsk, and the convoys will head to Khatyn.
On the way back, representatives of the Vitebsk region will visit the memorial complex "Curse of Fascism" in Shunevka, Dokshitsky district, where a rally and laying of flowers will take place.
