Vitebsk region has begun mass harvesting of herbaceous feed

Mass harvesting of herbaceous forage has begun in the Vitebsk region, as reported by the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Regional Executive Committee.

"Herbaceous forage harvesting is being carried out by farms in all districts of the region. Approximately 11.5% of the areas have been mown. In total, 27.7 thousand hectares need to be harvested in the region with the first mowing," the committee reported.

In terms of forage harvesting rates, the Orsha and Postavy districts are leading, with 23% and 22% of the areas mown, respectively. Speaking about the start dates of the green harvest, specialists noted that they correspond to the average long-term indicators. "In our region, mass forage harvesting traditionally begins on June 10. But everyone still has fresh memories of last year's mowing, which started at the end of May. This is abnormally early for the Vitebsk region," the committee noted.
