Vitebsk region has begun storing vegetables for the off-season period

Mass storage of vegetables for the off-season period has begun in the Vitebsk region, the trade and services department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. In total, for the upcoming off-season period, it is planned to store 8.8 thousand tons of potatoes, 500 tons of fruits, and almost 8.6 thousand tons of vegetables in the region, including 4.5 thousand tons of cabbage, 1.3 thousand tons of beets, 1.4 thousand tons of carrots, and 1.3 thousand tons of onions. The volumes of storage for all crop products correspond to the level of the previous off-season period, with the exception of fruits, the quantity of which has been increased by 4%. The harvest storage will be carried out in 64 storage facilities with a total storage capacity of 42.3 thousand tons. 7 of them with a capacity of 3.8 thousand tons are managed by trade enterprises, 26 with a capacity of 11.4 thousand tons by consumer cooperative organizations, and 31 with a capacity of 27.1 thousand tons by agricultural organizations. As of September 1, technical inspections of storage facilities and cold rooms were carried out. All enterprises have completed the necessary repair work to create appropriate conditions for crop storage. In addition, in October, two fruit storage facilities with a capacity of 2.4 thousand tons are planned to be commissioned at the Tolochin Cannery in addition to the existing facilities. The storage of vegetables and fruits in the Vitebsk region is planned to be completed by November 15. -0-
