Vitebsk region has increased the range of import-substituting product items to 180
In terms of import substitution, 76 enterprises in Vitebsk region will be working on this this year, continuing to expand their product range. "If in 2022 we produced 130 import-substituting product items, then this year there will be 180, meaning our range has been increased by 50 product items. We have set ourselves a target to produce about Br1 billion of import-substituting products," Anzhelika Nikitina noted. - Primarily, machine-tool, machine-building, and instrument-making enterprises are engaged in import substitution in the region. These include "Monolit", VZEP, "Izmeritel", "Evistor", and enterprises of private ownership. It is important that over the past year we have reduced the import intensity of our products by almost 20%. We have found reserves for the production of raw materials necessary for the region."
Commenting on the situation regarding the production of import-substituting products, the Deputy Chairperson of the Regional Executive Committee noted that active work in this direction will continue. According to her, today the Vitebsk region has all the competencies that can be involved in the production of goods capable of replacing imported counterparts. "This includes almost all chemistry, as well as rubber soles for footwear production, processed leather, components for mechanical engineering (springs, bearings, etc.). These niches – light industry, mechanical engineering, machine tool construction – occupy a significant share in the industrial complex of the region," emphasized Anzhelika Nikitina. "We have set a task to minimize critical imports, which currently include 303 product items that are not produced either in the Vitebsk region or in the Republic of Belarus. We are working in this direction and are searching for import-substituting projects."
