The Vitebsk region is orienting its enterprises towards an innovative development path and seeking investors in this direction. This was announced today at the opening of the V International Economic Forum "Innovations. Investments. Prospects" in Vitebsk by the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev.
"A little over a year has passed since our last meeting in Vitebsk at the investment forum. Today, you have the opportunity to see which areas of cooperation have already been mastered by the regions of our oblast, what promising development directions we see and offer," Nikolai Sherstnev welcomed the guests. "First and foremost, we are orienting our enterprises towards an innovative development path to enhance the competitiveness of our economy. We see similar options for our interaction in all spheres: economy, trade, energy, agriculture, tourism, roadside service, health improvement, and recreation."
The Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee emphasized that the local authorities, for their part, are ready to provide all possible assistance to partners and investors. Ready-made land plots, unused production and warehouse premises, sites for new construction, and raw materials are offered for consideration. The region is interested in projects for the deep processing of local raw materials and the production of products with higher added value. And, of course, in the employment of the region's residents, as there are enough trained personnel in the region. "Our specialists in the executive authorities are the first assistants in developing your projects, determining the project's development strategy, especially at the initial stage of its implementation. Those who are already working in our region have had the opportunity to be convinced of this more than once; we invite those who are still thinking about it to cooperate," concluded Nikolai Sherstnev.
As noted by Irina Makarenko, Director of the Vitebsk Regional Marketing Center, when developing the forum's concept, the emphasis was placed on the spheres of interest for the Vitebsk region – light and food industries, mechanical engineering and energy, agriculture, and woodworking. Accordingly, partners who are interested in these areas were attracted to participate in the event.these directions are of interest. Among the foreign participants are representatives from six regions of Russia, and countries such as Ukraine, Germany, Austria, Finland, Turkey, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Serbia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, China, Kyrgyzstan, and others. Some of them are visiting Vitebsk for the first time, and previously established contacts will be consolidated at the current forum in the form of partnership agreements.
"Regarding specific projects, the Poles want to build a hotel complex here. The Chinese side has shown great interest in the flax industry. This afternoon, we will discuss in more detail the supply of linen fabrics to China. And many partners are increasingly attracted by the potential of Orsha, our major logistics center," added Irina Makarenko. In general, the forum's business program includes a contact and cooperation exchange, the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Energy Saving-2016," the work of the section "SEZ - a priority form of attracting foreign investment into the economy," and a practical seminar "The Life-Giving Power of Breath" - a joint project of the Research Institute of Healthful Nutrition YAN-SHEN (PRC) and the Department of Medical Rehabilitation of Vitebsk Medical University.
On May 13, the field section "Innovations and Prospects in the Logistics Sector" will be held in Orsha with visits to leading enterprises in the district. In addition, on both days of the forum, expositions of district centers "Investment Potential of Vitebsk Region. Innovative Development of the Region" and international specialized exhibitions will be open: "Innovative Energy-Saving Technologies, Equipment, and Materials," "Construction Industry. Innovations in Construction"; "Food Industry," "LEGPROM 2016."
