Vitebsk region took first place in the organization of territorial defense, and Nikolai Sherstnev became the best shooter based on the competition results
For achieving the best results, the country's Minister of Defense, Major General Viktor Khrenin, presented the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, with a special pennant.
The meeting included theoretical and practical parts. An exhibition of weapons, equipment, and gear was also demonstrated, including items manufactured by enterprises of the Belarusian military-industrial complex. By the way, the stand of OJSC "Signal Equipment" from Barani, Orsha district, which produces communication equipment, body armor, helmets, and other items important for the army, was active.
According to the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus, Major General Alexander Wolfovich, the regional leaders were informed about the trends in the changes of the military-political situation and the specifics of conducting armed struggle in the territory temporarily occupied by the enemy.
In the practical part, conscripts called up for territorial troops training performed joint actions with the Special Operations Forces. They demonstrated how the knowledge gained and skills restored over two weeks help to complete assigned tasks quickly and clearly.
Combat swimmers demonstrated the capture and demolition of warehouses by moving under the ice of a reservoir in full gear. Alexander Volfovich emphasized that the country's leadership pays great attention to territorial defense as a crucial element of our state's protection. In particular, an effective system for training officials has been established. A specialization for officers in "Territorial Defense" has been introduced at the Military Academy. Here, district heads and their deputies undergo training twice a year.
Nikolai Shershnev noted that today not only approaches to territorial defense are being improved, but also the attitude of reservists called up for training is changing. Those who served in the army know what weapons are and have the opportunity to hone their skills. It is gratifying that they approach their duty responsibly, as evidenced by positive feedback and high ratings from commanders.
According to Nikolai Shershnev, every man should be morally, physically, and professionally prepared to defend his family and country.
As reported by the Deputy Military Commissar of the Vitebsk region, Lieutenant Colonel Igor Lazovsky, one of the key events in 2019 was the training session with reservists and command staff exercises in the Beshenkovichi district. For the first time in the country, as part of regional events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, territorial defense units participated in the Vitebsk garrison troops parade.
Based on the results of the TT pistol shooting competition held at the Losvido training ground, Nikolai Shershnev took first place. In the team event, the chairman of the regional executive committee, his first deputy Oleg Matskevich, and the military commissar Ruslan Shkodin took third place. After the completion of the training, the heads of the regions and Minsk were presented with the banners of the territorial troops of the regions.
