The Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic will present two unique concerts at the close of the season
May 24, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. The Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic will present two unique concerts to its audience at the close of the XXI concert season, the artistic director of the philharmonic, Nelly Matsaberidze, told a BELTA correspondent.
For the first time, the philharmonic will host a joint concert by Lithuanian organist Alexander Isakov and the philharmonic's chamber orchestra conducted by Vladimir Belyavsky. "The philharmonic's cooperation with the Lithuanian organist, which has been ongoing for three years, has resulted in this international music project, which we will present to our audience in one of the season's final concerts," noted Nelly Matsaberidze. The musicians have prepared a very interesting program for classical music fans, composed of popular and well-known works by Johann Sebastian Bach. They will also perform the unique work "Concerto for Organ, String Orchestra and Timpani" by the mid-20th-century French composer Francis Poulenc. The audience will be able to experience the results of the philharmonic's international activities on May 27.
The second concert is related to a particularly significant aspect of the philharmonic's work. Its participants will be gifted students from Vitebsk music educational institutions. For the first time, young talents will perform on the same stage with professional musicians. The concert will be dedicated to the 170th anniversary of Pyotr Tchaikovsky's birth, which the global music community celebrates in 2010. "As you know, the great composer paid great attention to nurturing the younger generation, which is why we decided to give young talents the opportunity to perform on the philharmonic's main stage," said Nelly Matsaberidze, adding that this practice will continue in the future. The concert will take place on May 31.
Both performances are diverse and reflect the main areas of the philharmonic's activities, which have been emphasized in recent years and will be actively developed in the future. This is precisely why it was decided not to combine them into a single concluding concert, but to give the public the opportunity to visit the philharmonic twice at the close of the season.
In addition, on May 25, the philharmonic will introduce the audience to the work of the chamber orchestra of the Novgorod Philharmonic, which will perform on the Vitebsk stage for the first time. -0-
