This task was set today for the heads of local authorities, departments and institutions by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, during his visit to the facility.
The hospital, built in 1961 and consisting of two buildings, had not undergone major repairs before, the chief physician of this healthcare institution, Tatyana Kovaleva, told a BELTA correspondent. Currently, construction and installation work is underway on the first treatment building with an area of 4 thousand sq.m. Over the next three months, all engineering systems, windows will be replaced here, thermal renovation of walls and a complete redesign will be carried out, which will allow patients to be accommodated in single or double isolation rooms after reconstruction. In addition, each room will be equipped with a bathroom. The bed capacity of the building is estimated to be around 180 beds. This will be sufficient to ensure the operation of the medical institution under normal working conditions, Tatyana Kovaleva noted.
In addition, design and estimate documentation for the reconstruction of the second treatment building and the construction of an extension building with an area of 10 thousand sq.m, which will connect the two blocks of the hospital, is currently being developed. It will house the intensive care unit, laboratory complex, department of infectious diseases treatment, and hospital administration. The foundation laying for the future building is scheduled to begin this year. Its construction, the reconstruction of the second treatment building with an area of 4 thousand sq.m, and the landscaping of the adjacent territory are to be completed by December 1, 2011.
The cost of reconstructing the first treatment building will amount to Br11 billion, including the re-equipment of the material and technical base. The total cost of the entire complex is being calculated. The customer of the works is the Capital Construction Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
The Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, while familiarizing himself with the progress of the work, emphasized that the most modern medical equipment, including laboratory equipment, should be installed here.
The highest level of medical care must also be provided at the Central Women's Consultation Clinic, Alexander Kosinets noted during his visit to the former gynecological department of City Maternity Hospital No. 1 on Sennaya Street, on the basis of which this medical institution will be created. "The clinic should provide a full range of related medical care, including a rehabilitation department and a day hospital," the governor emphasized, instructing to start work immediately so that the facility is commissioned by the end of the first half of 2011. "There are funds for these purposes, the main thing is to master them," the head of the region added. -0-
