The Vitebsk organization of the Belarusian Red Cross Society is implementing 14 mini-projects in 2011
February 7, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The Vitebsk regional organization of the Belarusian Red Cross Society (BRCS) is implementing 14 mini-projects in 2011, its chairperson Galina Zhelanova told a BELTA correspondent.
All mini-projects concern the most socially vulnerable categories of people - lonely elderly citizens, young disabled people, etc.
Ten of the implemented projects started last year. The decision to continue them is due to their social significance and the achieved effect. For example, the "Home Without Loneliness" project brought together elderly people who enjoy singing in Dubrovno. Mini-projects related to organizing hobby groups for various types of needlework are being implemented in the village of Novka, Vitebsk region; with the purchase of a mill for residents of several nearby villages - in the Nemoytovsky village council of Senno district; and blood pressure monitors and bicycles for former healthcare workers - in Senno. "All of them have helped to unite local elderly residents, give them a new incentive to participate in public activities, and also strengthen the connection between the population and rural councils, which also help implement the projects," noted Galina Zhelanova.
This year, four new mini-projects will be implemented in the region. These are "Hand in Hand" for organizing employment for young disabled people in Rossony district, "Lace Maker" - for organizing needlework groups in Orsha, and two projects related to the purchase of chainsaws for residents of the village of Nikolaevo (Shumilino district) and Vetrino (Polotsk district).
For the implementation of each new project, the Consortium of the Swiss, Austrian, and German Red Cross Societies allocates 400 euros, and for the continuation of existing ones - 200 euros each. -0-
