Vitebskdrev plans to commission a fiberboard production plant in 2013

Vitebskdrev OJSC plans to commission a plant for the production of fiberboard (MDF/HDF) in 2013, Deputy General Director for Construction Nikolai Kuznetsov told a BELTA correspondent. The production of import-substituting products – laminate – will begin with the commissioning of the first stage of the plant, which is scheduled for July next year. The commissioning of the second stage will take place before the end of 2013, and with its commissioning, the production of fiberboard (MDF/HDF) will be launched. The design capacity of the plant is 140 thousand cubic meters per year, and it is planned to reach it by the end of next year. The cost of the project at current prices is about Br500 billion (bank loans). 6.7 hectares have been allocated for the new plant on the territory of Vitebskdrev. Approximately 80% of the equipment for the plant has already been delivered. The project implementation has been underway since February 2011. The enterprise is engaged in the production of fiberboard and particleboard. "The new fiberboard (MDF/HDF) will differ in technology, technical parameters, and their quality will be much higher," noted the deputy general director. The production of fiberboard will increase manifold with the commissioning of the plant. The sale of both laminate and new fiberboard will be carried out both in Belarus and abroad. Vitebskdrev considers Russia as the main promising foreign market for the sale of these products. The enterprise was founded in 1927, and since 1994 it has been transformed into an OJSC. Vitebskdrev is one of the largest woodworking companies in Belarus. It produces windows and doors, particleboard and fiberboard, sawn timber, flooring boards, and other products. The enterprise has an effective quality management system that complies with ISO 9000 requirements. In order to improve the environmental performance of its activities and prevent environmental pollution, Vitebskdrev has created and implemented an environmental management system based on the ISO 14000 standards. Production capacities allow processing up to 1 thousand cubic meters of wood raw materials per day. The enterprise is part of the Bellesbumprom concern. -0-
