Vitebskdrev Launches Laminate Production Equipment
The launch of equipment for laminate production will begin in the coming days at Vitebskdrev OJSC, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by the enterprise's General Director Anatoly Yukhnovets.
In accordance with the state program of innovative development, Vitebskdrev is implementing an investment project for the production of MDF (medium-density fiberboard) and HDF (high-density fiberboard) wood-fiber boards. The project involves the production of innovative boards, including laminated products based on wood raw materials, as well as laminated flooring, which is currently imported. The planned annual output will be 140 thousand cubic meters. The commissioning of the enterprise is scheduled for June 2013.
The projected share of exports in the total sales volume upon reaching design capacity is expected to be 24.7%, as the project is import-substituting. In the domestic market, the main consumers of Vitebskdrev's new products will be furniture manufacturers, door manufacturers, construction organizations, as well as trade enterprises.
The project cost is 59.1 million euros. Br112.3 billion has already been allocated for its implementation, including over Br100 billion for construction and installation work. Currently, concrete work on the main building is 70% complete, external wall masonry is 80% complete, the building contour is closed, with only an installation opening left for equipment. To accelerate the work, in addition to the contracting construction organization, Vitebskdrev is sending about 30 workers daily to assist the builders, paying for their work at its own expense.
The reconstruction of the flooring production workshop has been completed. As Anatoly Yukhnovets noted, equipment suppliers will begin its launch, testing, and personnel training in the coming days. Raw materials for laminate production will be purchased before the main MDF and HDF production facility is commissioned.
The enterprise was founded in 1927, and since 1994 has been transformed into an Open Joint Stock Company. "Vitebskdrev" is one of the largest woodworking companies in Belarus. It produces windows and doors, particleboard and fiberboard, lumber, flooring, and other products. The enterprise has an effective quality management system that complies with ISO 9000 requirements. In order to improve the environmental performance of its activities and prevent environmental pollution, "Vitebskdrev" has created and implemented an environmental management system based on the 14000 series standards. The enterprise is part of the "Bellesbumprom" concern.
