Vitebsk agrarians have supplied a third of the planned grain volumes under the state order

Farmers of the region are actively delivering grain to fulfill state orders: 100-120 vehicles deliver it to grain reception points and elevators around the clock. The regional committee for agriculture and food of the regional executive committee reported that there are no transport problems, and all farm requests are fulfilled within 24 hours. Grain producers are to deliver over 100,000 tons of food grain to the granaries. Thanks to the clear organization of the process, one-third of the planned volumes have been completed to date.

The grain reception facility of the Vitebsk Grain Processing Plant in the suburban village of Medvedka is now like a large anthill – loaders, tractors, and vehicles are constantly moving. A pleasant smell of bread comes from the dryers. Large hangars and sheds gleam gold under the August sun – this is where the freshly delivered grain is stored. Next comes drying, cleaning, and sorting of the harvest.

"We were among the first to start receiving grain as part of the state order," says director Andrey Prokopenko. "We have four grain reception facilities. One is at the main enterprise, where we mainly receive wheat. In Medvedka, Gorodok, and Богушевск, we handle other crops. The capacity of this facility is designed for storing 45,000 tons of grain. We will subsequently supply high-class 'A' rye, wheat, and barley to bakery enterprises and retail chains that engage in their own baking. There are no supply chain disruptions. As of yesterday, the plant had procured about 20,000 tons of grain, with over 8,000 tons delivered to Medvedka."

Vitebsk Grain Processing Plant is one of the links in a large structural association. It is part of the "Vitebsk Meat Processing Plant" agroholding. This means that everyone is working for a common cause. The agroholding has six large pig breeding complexes with a total population of over 83,000. Therefore, in addition to food grain, feed grain is also received at the grain reception points – it is sent for the production of compound feeds.

The quality of the grain arriving at Medvedka for the state order is checked in a special laboratory. Moisture content, gluten content, bulk density, and ergot inclusions – the grain class is determined based on these analyses.

Grain for the state order,Besides Vitebsk, Orsha and Polotsk KhKP, Vitebsk Khlebprom, Miory and Glubokoye Feed Mills, and Tolochin Elevator are accepting grain.

— We are the largest grain receivers in the region, — notes Alexander Pashurin, director of UP "Tolochin Elevator-Agro". — Our capacity allows for simultaneous storage of about 150 thousand tons of grain. We have already stored almost 100 thousand tons, including over 15 thousand tons of grain delivered by enterprises of Tolochin and Orsha districts to fulfill the state order. This is more than half of the planned amount. In general, we receive grain from Vitebsk, Mogilev, and Minsk regions. Rapeseed, of which we already have about 45 thousand tons, is brought from all regions of the country except Gomel.

Alexander Anatolyevich notes the specifics of the harvesting season: good weather and simultaneous ripening of grain crops have accelerated the pace. On some "peak" days, the enterprise receives 5.5-6.5 thousand tons of grain.

The Polotsk Feed Mill is also working at a high pace. It will accept the largest volume of grain in the region as part of the state order — 44 thousand tons. Currently, grain is being delivered here from 16 districts of Vitebsk region. In total, the enterprise can store over 120 thousand tons of the new harvest. The director of the mill, Oleg Sisenko, emphasizes the staff:

— Our staff is experienced and reliable. 90 percent of the people are our own. For operations requiring unskilled labor, we have involved several students. In addition to Polotsk, we have four more sites in Verkhnedvinsk, Shumilino, Postavy, and Miory (feed mill). Grain acceptance is carried out around the clock everywhere. We expect the state order to be fulfilled in early September.

The yield is over 33 centners per hectare; in Orsha district, they are currently threshing approximately 44 centners per hectare. Unfortunately, it is almost twice less (23.7 centners) in Rossony district. Over 30 combine operators have threshed a thousand tons of grain, and Leonid Alekseenko from the agricultural enterprise branch«Zaozerie» of Lepel district, which is part of the integration structure based on OJSC «Vitebsk Meat Packing Plant», is about to cross the 3 thousand ton mark.
