Vitebsk trampolinists returned with a victory from the World Championships in Bulgaria
The pupils of the renowned Vitebsk school (pictured), who form the core of the Belarusian national team, returned as true victors from Bulgaria, where the adult and then the junior World Trampoline Championships were held alternately. They won a scattering of medals of various dignities.
For the first time since 1999, the country's women's team, consisting of Anna Gorchenok, Maria Lon, and Svetlana Makshtareva, performed so successfully, winning bronze medals. In the 17-18-year-old girls' group, Valeria Mosessova and Natalia Grukova were unrivaled in synchronized jumps. Among the 15-16-year-old boys, Artem Smirnov, paired with Artem Zhuk from Grodno, took first place. In the 11-12-year-old category, Anton Shaikho and Nikita Fomchenko were the best. In the individual program in the 11-12-year-old group, Matvey Orlov took third place. The Bogomolova sisters, Valentina and Maria, performed commendably among the 13-14-year-olds. Invaluable support to the athletes was provided by their coaches present at the tournament: Olga Vlasova, Vladimir Shulikin, Natalia Lebedeva, and Svetlana Pashkovskaya.
Olga Vlasova notes that the championship was very tough. Competitions lasted from morning until late evening. While the athletes were given some respite, the coaches were as drained as lemons. However, our young synchronized jumping champion Anton Shaikho believes that everything was "just great."
Vladimir Shulikin, who, along with his trainees Makshtareva, Mosessova, and Grukova, is currently training under the auspices of the Vitebsk Higher School of Olympic Reserve, particularly noted the material and moral support provided to the athletes by the school's administration. Vladimir Vasilyevich believes that the parting words of its director, Igor Kanygin, played a significant role in the success of our
"flying girls". According to the coach, the competition was particularly fierce among the youth. At the same time, they missed a couple of medals due to errors in the execution of certain exercises, the specialist is confident. In the opinion of the experienced specialist, formerly the long-time director of Children's and Youth Sports School No. 2, Galina Romanovich, the success of the Vitebsk trampolinists is not accidental. It is gratifying that continuity has been maintained in the coaching staff, which has assembled an excellent team,
"the core of winners remains". Vladimir Shulikin's father, Vasily Ivanovich, is still the senior trampoline coach, and his son Ivan has already joined the training. It's turning into a real dynasty! The sports school on the southern outskirts of Vitebsk is always crowded. Parents understand that trampolining is gaining popularity worldwide and are increasingly bringing their children here. For instance, while world championships used to be held every two years, starting from this year, they will become annual, except for Olympic years. Paid groups are also popular. After all, even if a person does not have the natural talent to become a champion, they are guaranteed good health, body control, and beautiful posture.
Victory is always pleasant, but our champions have no intention of resting on their laurels. On December 11, the traditional international tournament will start in Vitebsk.
«Slavic Games» in three age groups for the prizes of Dmitry Polyarush, in which representatives of the leading world schools of this exciting sport have confirmed their participation. And this means that the traditions laid down by the patriarchs of Vitebsk trampoline, honorary citizens of the city on the Dvina Vladimir Shvalbo and long-term director of SDYUSSHOR №2 (he passed away last year, alas) Wilhelm Kishkovsky, are alive and multiplying!Ales Byńkov, "Vitebskie vesti"?
