Vitebsk paratroopers took a dip in the ice hole on Epiphany
Around 500 representatives of the airborne forces took dips in the baptismal font of the 103rd Vitebsk Separate Guards Airborne Brigade and in official bathing sites on water bodies on the Epiphany.

– Every year on January 19, our unit traditionally participates in the dipping ritual, which has become firmly established among the people. It is good for the health of paratroopers, it hardens the body, – said the head of the information center of the 103rd brigade, Ernest Yupatov. – Our soldiers are strong and resilient; they prepare for the winter water in advance so as not to get sick, but rather to benefit. If guys come for active service who, for some reason, are afraid of cold water, then after special training, they correct this shortcoming and gladly immerse themselves.
to this ritual.

Junior Sergeant Roman Peterukhin of the 103rd Brigade said that his father, who previously served in the Navy and sailed to Japan, introduced him to plunging into the ice-hole.
– My father, Sergey Peterukhin, is a fan of winter plunging. In the year I came of age, he took me with him to the lake, and together with him, I plunged into the icy water for the first time. The frost was about 10 degrees. When I dived once, I felt like my body was being pierced with thin needles, I immediately dived a second time and felt how warmth spread through my body after the cold, and after the third time submerging my head, when I surfaced, I felt a heat in my body. It became very comfortable, light, as if there was no snow and frost around, but a sunny summer meadow, – says Roman Peterukhin. – Of course, such hardening should be done when you are healthy, strong, when you are ready for it. The following year, on Epiphany, my father and I plunged into the ice-hole again; the frost was weaker then, only five degrees. Now, in the 103rd Brigade, this will be my third plunge. I am grateful to my father for introducing me to this wonderful tradition, which strengthens not only the body but also the spirit, and to the command for supporting it in the army. Men living in northern regions should not be afraid of frost,стужи, ледяной воды и любых жизненных трудностей.

to the brigade font. It has been located on the territory of our unit since 2017. For Epiphany, our friends from the city's law enforcement agencies, with whom we jointly perform service tasks and always maintain close contact, also come to us for the immersion. This rite unites us even more. The brigade commander, Guards Colonel Vladimir Safonov, performs the immersion annually, followed by his deputies and other officers. Some servicemen come to the brigade font with their children and introduce them to the tradition of immersion. Many young men, before joining the army, are accustomed in their families
