Vitebsk paratroopers held a mini-parade for a 101-year-old war veteran

Servicemembers of the 103rd Vitebsk Separate Guards Airborne Brigade congratulated a Great Patriotic War veteran in the regional center today.

On the eve of Victory Day, the brigade's servicemembers congratulated 101-year-old Fyodor Lisovsky. Soldiers marched past the veteran's house, and an officer, accompanied by a military band, performed well-known songs about the war. "Our event is a tribute to those who fulfilled their military duty at the cost of their own lives. Using our veterans as an example, we are raising a new generation of Fatherland defenders, showing that Belarus remembers and is proud of its heroes," noted the Deputy Commander of the Brigade for Ideological Work, Lieutenant Colonel Denis Kriventsov.

Fyodor Minovich Lisovsky was born in 1919 in the Orsha district. He went through the entire war: he was drafted in 1939 and returned home in 1946. His units fought as part of the Western, 4th Ukrainian, and 2nd Belarusian Fronts. The veteran participated in the liberation of Sevastopol and combat operations in Poland and Koenigsberg. Ultimately, he reached Berlin and was wounded twice. Fyodor Minovich was awarded the Order of the Red Star, the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st Class, the medals "For the Capture of Koenigsberg," "For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945," and the Order of the Badge of Honor.

Despite his honorable age, the veteran came outside and greeted the paratroopers with a military salute, thanking everyone for their attention. "The march pleased me. I am glad that I lived such a long life for a reason, because there are people who support me. Thank you," said Fyodor Minovich.

The parade and loud music of the orchestra brought their mood to the courtyard where the veteran lives for a few minutes. Neighbors watched from the window, filmed the unusual congratulation on their phones, some decided to go down. Tamara Varvashina lives in the same building as the war participant. She says that Fyodor Lisovsky is a wonderful person, always communicates, sets an example for others with his behavior and attitude to work. "We look up to him. The improvement of the square in our courtyard was not without the participation of Fyodor Minovich, he cares about people and the place where he lives," the neighbor added.-0-
