Vitebsk and Daugavpils businessmen plan joint projects in construction and woodworking

Cooperation between Vitebsk region and Latgale has great potential, stated Chairperson of the Daugavpils City Council Rita Stroda today at the opening of the business forum "Days of Vitebsk Region in Latgale," a BELTA correspondent reports. Some proposals from Vitebsk enterprises have already interested Latgale entrepreneurs. The creation of joint woodworking enterprises and the production of furniture for sale on the European market are among them, said the Mayor of Daugavpils. "We are ready to provide the European Union brand for Belarusian enterprises," she added. According to Rita Stroda, the construction industry could become another promising area of cooperation. Given the large volumes of construction in Belarus, particularly in the Vitebsk region, Daugavpils builders have expressed interest in providing their capacities for the implementation of housing and social sphere construction programs. Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee Viktor Nikolaikin invited Latvian businessmen to an investment forum planned to be held in Vitebsk during the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" arts festival. Enterprises of the Vitebsk region are presenting their products in Daugavpils for the first time after Latvia joined the EU. The business forum "Days of Vitebsk Region in Latgale" will conclude its work on April 25. -0-
