Vitebsk and Vietnamese scientists will expand cooperation in the field of materials science

The Vitebsk Institute of Technical Acoustics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (ITA) is expanding its partnership with leading academic institutions in Vietnam to carry out joint developments in the field of materials science. During the recent International Economic Forum, ITA signed two protocols of intent to develop cooperation in this area.

The Vitebsk scientists have been interacting with the Institute of Materials Science of the National Academy of Sciences of Vietnam for over a year, and now the partnership is formalized by an official document. At the forum, another academic structure from this South Asian country joined it – the Center for High Technologies Development of the National Academy of Sciences.

According to Vasily Rubanik, Director of ITA, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Vietnamese colleagues are interested in conducting joint research in a wide range of areas. This includes the study of special alloys with a shape memory effect, and the use of ultrasonic vibrations to improve the properties of casting alloys, including aluminum. The scientists of the two countries also intend to deepen their knowledge of the processes of mechanical activation of metal powders for their subsequent sintering and production of finished products.

Vitebsk scientists are also involving young specialists in these joint research projects, noted Vasily Rubanik. The work is carried out both at the ITA of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and at the Vitebsk State Technological University in the "Advanced Materials and Technologies" laboratory.
