Vitebsk collectives took part in the celebration of Daugavpils City Day
Joint projects of the State Institution "Center of Culture "VITEBSK" and the Department of Culture of the Daugavpils City Council are a successful example of cultural cooperation between Belarus and Latvia, which not only demonstrates creative achievements and exchanges experience, but also organizes a real celebration for the residents of twin cities.
From June 2 to 8, 2014, Daugavpils celebrated its 738th anniversary: in honor of the city's birthday, a large-scale festival "MY CITY DAUGAVPILS" was organized, in which various cultural and educational institutions of the city, local creative groups, and, of course, invited guests took part. Among these guests were collectives from the Center of Culture "VITEBSK": the folk theater of song and music "PROSTORY", the show group "INSPECTOR ZHUF" (including the group "HELLO, ANTONIO!", soloists Sergey DMITROCHENKO and Stepan YAKUBENKO), the Honored Amateur Collective of the Republic of Belarus dance ensemble "LYAVONIKHA", as well as the historical reconstruction club "VARGENTHORN".
On June 7 and 8, a grand concert of Vitebsk collectives took place on Vienibas Square and on the stage of the Daugavpils Fortress: world hits, popular pop songs, as well as the best compositions from the repertoire of the program participants were performed. The dance ensemble "LYAVONIKHA" complemented the vocal numbers with colorful choreographic productions. On the same days, in Dubrovin Park and on the ramparts near the Mark ROTKO Art Center, townspeople in the image of medieval musicians were greeted by the historical reconstruction club "VARGENTHORN".
Over the week, the noisy, vibrant festival swept through all districts of Daugavpils, and the Vitebsk guests, being among the participants of the events, received a lot of positive impressions.
