Vitebsk police intend to involve graffiti artists in painting hockey rinks
November 26, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Vitebsk police intend to involve graffiti artists in painting hockey rinks. In this unusual way, law enforcement officers hope to distract teenagers from their addiction to painting the walls of public buildings, the author of the idea, Deputy Head of the Pervomaisky District Department of Internal Affairs of Vitebsk, Vasily Balada, told a BELTA correspondent.
Inscriptions on bus stops, walls of houses and kiosks have become a real scourge of the regional center. So far, only 12 teenagers caught in the act of wall painting have come to the attention of law enforcement agencies. Initially, police officers limited themselves to a preventive conversation and told the "artists" that their drawings are qualified by the administrative code as intentional destruction and damage to property. The maximum penalty for such actions is a fine of 50 basic units (currently one basic unit is equal to Br35 thousand), which parents will have to pay.
According to Vasily Balada, teenagers should be provided with an alternative platform for their informal hobby. The initiative of the District Department of Internal Affairs was supported by housing management offices and the city department of sports and tourism. -0-
